Mistila is pair of eco-friendly cabins set within the South Downs National Park, offering a peaceful retreat that connects guests with nature. Designed by Turner and Hoskins Architects, Rural Workshop was involved in developing detailed construction drawings and overseeing the build process from planning to completion.
Our role focused on refining the original planning drawings to ensure the cabin met building regulations and would be practical to construct. We worked closely with the clients to ensure that the cabin responded well to its natural setting and complied with the sensitive environmental requirements of the South Downs.
The cabin’s exposed Oak frame, built with locally sourced materials, integrates seamlessly into its surroundings. Materials like Cedar cladding and a Zinc roof elevate the aesthetic to match the beauty of the surrounding woodland, while offering a warm, inviting atmosphere.
Rural Workshop also played an active role in managing the construction process, coordinating the team, and ensuring the project stayed on track. The result is a low impact, well-crafted cabin that provides a comfortable, nature-filled escape.
